OLUKLACI SPRING FESTIVAL
Spring Festival is held every year during the second week of May at the Oluklacı Region, close to Eğirdir town. The festival site has a fantastic view of the countryside and the Eğirdir lake due to its 1.150 Mt. elevation.
Our ancestors always loved to worship in nature. They frequently visited Oluklucı Plato close by the town and worshiped them. If you pay attention to the name of Camili Yayla, they even built a mosque in the plateau for worship. It is known that they went to Karagöl on Dedegöl mountain and stayed there for fifteen days. A story is told among the people for Seyh Mehmet Sultan: He has a mule. While going to Olukluca to worship, the hind legs of the mule stretched for the Sheikh to go alone. The front legs of the mule stretched for comfortable landing while the seyh was descending. It is a hollow oak grove. Unfortunately, centuries-old oaks were cut in the winter of 1911. That year was such a winter that the ice of the lake did not rise for a hundred days. Since there was no fuel from the cold, centuries-old oaks and even tars in the grove were cut and fought to survive with Eğirdir. The present trees in Olukluca are the roots of the oak felled or re-formed. Eğirdir people have been in this area for years and spend their time in unity and solidarity.
Surrounded by a turquoise blue lake and ringed by snow capped mountains, this cozy little town is a perfect place to relax, eat fresh fish, go hiking & cycling and get away from it all
